Adrift in Space

CAPTAIN'S LOG:  STARDATE 87811.43

It has been 24 hours since our encounter with the subspace weapon, and The Psyche remains adrift in space.   Dr. Movaak has converted cargo bays 1, 2, and 3 into triage wards, and subscribed Ship's Counselor and Contact Specialist Dr. Mwasaa into emergency medical service.  With 50% of the crew perished, repairs are progressing slowly, and I have made Life Support and Communications a top priority.  Attitude Control, Propulsion, Weapons, Defensive Systems, and Auxillary remain offline.  I don't think we would have gotten this far if it had not been for the efficient and precise work of our Assistant Chief Engineer, 010 and 101.  They are recent transfers to The Psyche, and I regret not making the time to get to know the dyad better before this crisis.  They have assured me we will be able to send out a general distress call in the next 6 hours.

CAPTAIN'S LOG:  SUPPLEMENTAL

Our engineering staff, headed by 101 and 010, have successfully secured life support, the communications and deflector arrays, and gotten us 1/4 impulse power out of the impulse drive.  We have put out a distress call, and The Boudiccea and The Mandela have responded.  To say that I am proud of my crew would be an understatement, for they have done more in the last few days then I think a Starbase could do in a week.  We have set course for Deep Space Nine for an overhaul and repair.  I am told I will be met at the station by Ensign Yamilé Asiro, the sister of my former Operations Officer; who currently serves as the station's Transporter Chief.  I look forward to meeting her, despite the grim circumstances.

In addition, for their amazing skill, innovation, and service the past few days, I have promoted 010 and 101 to Chief Engineer.
